Bahawalpur: (PR) Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice
Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Ghazi University Dera
Ghazi Khan has said that Honourable Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz
Sharif has tremendously promoted education sector by patronizing talented and
hardworking students and supporting youth belonging to deprived segments of
society. Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) has enabled these students to
seek education in higher education institutions and travel abroad to study in
world renowned universities. The Punjab Education Endowment Fund initially started
with funding of Rs. 2 billion and now it has enhanced to Rs. 17 billion
benefiting more than two hundred thousands students across the province. He said
that the Chief Minster recently selected Bahawalpur with two other cities of
the Punjab to conduct PEEF mega events and graced a huge gathering of students,
parents and faculty members at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. In fact,
the PEEF has started producing results now as the beneficiaries of the
scholarships are successfully performing their professional life. As many as
1915 students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have received PEEF
scholarships worth Rs. 270 million. The Vice Chancellor added that the Chief
Minister appreciated student’s discipline and campus beauty during his visit to
the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for participating in mega PEEF awareness
ceremony. The Vice Chancellor also
appreciated efforts of Dr. Amjad Saqib, Vice Chairman, PEEF in strengthening the
scholarship programme.
