BAHAWALPUR :- SHAN-E-BAHAWALPUR AWARDS HELD AT ISLAMIA UNIVERSITY BAHAWALPUR ' S AUDITORIUM OF BAGHDAD-UL-JADEED CAMPUS

"THE AWARDS WERE CONFERRED ON VETERANS IN RECOGNITION OF THEIR SERVICES  -  BUT MOSTLY ELIGIBLE PERSONS LEFT DEPRIVED FROM AWARDS".

"THE AWARDS CEREMONY LAUNCHED FOR THE FIRST TIME OF ITS KIND BY THE DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION TO RECOGNIZE THE SERVICES OF THOSE WHO BELONGS TO DISTRICT BAHAWALPUR & SURROUNDINGS".

In my opinion an award ceremony is an event where one or multiple awards are given to those who are being acknowledged for a specific purpose. Receiving an award boosts a person or company's worth in their field and these type of ceremonies are a celebration of talent, success and achievement.  Award refers to a prize or medal of some kind that indicates that you have done well & achieved an honour to recognized outstanding achievements in your field.

Now lets come to the point, The "SHAN-E-BAHAWALPUR AWARDS" has recently been launched for the first time in Bahawalpur by the District. Administration to recognize the services of those who belongs to Bahawalpur Division held at the Auditorium of Islamia University Bahawalpur's  Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus (IUB) and the awards were conferred who laurels at national and international level whom gathered under one roof from all over Pakistan. Shan-e-Bahawalpur Awards, a great initiative,  but it was difficult task for District Administration of Bahawalpur. 

Unfortunately in the past,  Bahawalpur Division has always been ignored  and treated by the upper level authorities as like stepmother , that's why the most brilliant and eligible persons  always ignored during  the distribution of awards either on Provincial or Central levels.  However the soil of Bahawalpur Division is very much fertile which is continuously producing famous personalities like intellectuals, prominent scholars, players, doctors, philosophers, highbrows, journalists, writers, poets, advocates, judges, politicians both male and female whom belongs to different walks of life and they perform their services by distinction.  But at the time of distribution of awards on National level the most deserving personalities in their field have been deprived except few of them awarded, mostly the people of upper Punjab has been awarded which is open conflict and aggressiveness with the illustrious people of Bahawalpur Division.

According to my humble opinion, during organizing this great occasion, there are many flaws have been noted, few of them I would like to share with you dear readers like, i) The venue for this grand ceremony should be District Council Hall or Arts Council Bahawalpur instead of out of range area of Islamia University's (IUB) Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus Bahawalpur,  ii) Due importance not given to veteran journalists, writers, advocates & former judges nor any Educator etc. etc.,  different personalities of Bahawalpur  have been deprived of  to achieve this honour, iii) Dear readers here I have a question for you that if you want to acknowledge someone's services, is this method is suitable that he/she should personally submit his/her proposal before jury/selection committee to consider himself/herself. iv.) Posthumous and obituary awards quota must be fixed for those who spend their lives to serve the people in their departments.

The District.Administration once again did not invited the local newspapers to cover this auspicious event, in fact local newspapers have been ignored in SHAN-E-BAHAWALPUR AWARDS. Some column writers of local newspapers also written many columns besides given advice's before the award ceremony, that which committee is working on distribution of awards among eligible or qualified people is incomplete.  In this committee there should be added elites of  Bahawalpur city besides different  and all communities representatives should be included and their opinion must be considered on priority, otherwise these SHAN-E-BAHAWALPUR AWARDS  will distribute among the ones who prominent in government circle or touts.  But at last whatever predicted that is happens almost.

In my opinion the poets, writers journalists etc., are the most deserving / eligible persons of this backward region of Bahawalpur instead of those writers / celebrities who left this land several years ago and are settled in big cities or living in abroad.

The writers and journalists of our Bahawalpur.,  have this  distinction that they are performing/doing their work in limited resources in their fields rather it would be better to say that they are doing feat in limited resources and to love with homeland is their true asset, that's why I can certainly confirm here that Bahawalpur's soil have rich talent who can take prominent place in all over the country.

In this context the poets, writers & especially journalists of Bahawalpur were being presumed that in SHAN-E-BAHAWALPUR AWARDS they should be commended officially with awards only instead of financial help, but this is destiny that again talent has been ignored and Shan-e-Bahawalpur Awards increases their deprivations, here I regretfully say that Shan-e-Bahawalpur Awards failed to capture the hearts but like other awards these awards also surrounded with controversies.

In the end of this column, in my opinion, for next year awards it is necessary to give due importance this sensitive issue of morals & make possible to held Shan-e-Bahawalpur Awards Ceremony in Lahore instead of Bahawalpur to make more outstanding, stunning and spectacular in its nature because in Lahore there is plenty of Ministers, bureaucrats and celebrities,  and if they will attend these type of  ceremonies, surely it will be recognized on National Level to prove this quotation that  ("THE HEARTS OF PEOPLE OF BAHAWALPUR ARE WIDENED LIKE DESERTS.")
