BAHAWALPUR(PR)Bahawalpur Waste Management Company should mobilize all
available resources by raising public awareness with the active support of
local communities to make Bahawalpur Pakistan’s first zero waste city. This was
stated by Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal while presiding
over a meeting to review the functioning of BWMC here at his office. The
meeting was attended by MD Naeem Akhtar, Manager Operation Imtiaz-Ullah,
Company Secretary Azam Kanjo and Assistant Manager Ismail. During the meetingMD
BWMC give a detailed briefing about the operational mechanism of BWMC. He
maintained that all sanitary workers have been provided android phones to
monitor their functioning in various parts of the Bahawalpur city which have
been divided in to three zones. He further maintained that BWMC has the
capacity to collect as much as three 318 ton of solid waste out of total solid
waste to the tune of 325 ton produced daily in the city. He further said that
sanitary staff works in three shifts which along-with other assignments washes
all the important roads on daily basis. He further maintained that all vehicles
and machinery was fully operational.
Deputy Commissioner directed the MD BWMC to designate a day
in a month as a cleanliness day where member of civil society, notables and
Govt. officials should be invited to further boost the operational capability
of BWMC. He further directed MD of the company to ensure the presence of all
employees of the company to print the complaint no. 1139 at all vehicle and
machinery of the organization to keep machinery in fully operational and
install dustbin at all the important places of the city.
