Ashfaq Ahmad khan has said that the glorious and splendid culture of Cholistan
stands fully reflected in its melodious folk music which gets epitomized in the
singing of Cholistani singers Mohan Bhagat and other Cholistani artists. He
made these remarks while speaking as a Chief Guest at a musical evening with
Mohan Bhagat and other Cholistani artists organized by Bahawalpur Arts Council
at Rashidia Auditorium.
District Police Officer further
maintained that Cholistan civilization had the universal values of peace, love
and unity among various shades of diversified culture value system. He further
maintained that Cholistan folk music had its deep roots in the cultural
landscape of Cholistan culture. Resident Director Bahawalpur Arts Council Rana
Ajaz Mahmood highlighted the unique melodious symphony of Cholistani folk music
which has wide range synchronizing with the vastness and depth of desert of
Cholistan. Station Radio Pakistan Bahawalpur Syed Tariq Shah paid rich tribute
to the Cholistan artists who are true ambassador of our cultural heritage.
Prominent intellectual Malik Habib-Ullah Bhutta maintained that Cholistani
artists have preserved and are promoting our splendid cultural heritage through
their wonderful performances. Poet Jahangir Mukhlis, Shahid Aalam Shahid, Riaz
Baloch of Al-Sadiq Desert welfare organization also spoke on the occasion.
Chairman Dhareja Adbi academy senior journalist
and intellectual Zahoor Dhareja in his address traced the long journey of
Bhagat musical family whose founder Kanwar Bhagat inherited his musical
treasure to his master son Faqira Bhagat which is now in the hands of their
third generation whose great sons Aado Bhagat and Mohan Bhagat have been
carrying on the musical tradition of their forefathers. Mr. Dhareja appreciated
the infinitives of Bahawalpur Arts Council for organizing musical event.
Traditional Ajrak, Bouquets and book
were presented to the Chief Guest and others. Earlier Cholistani singers Mohan
Bhagat, Audo Bhagat, Nori Mai and Prema ram enthralled the audience through
their musical performance. The musical evening was attended by a large number
of men and women. TV artist Tahira Khan conducted the music show.
