AN INTERVIEW WITH MAYOR OF BAHAWALPUR

The
department of Media Studies of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur
arranged an interview with The Mayor of Bahawalpur, Aqeel Najam Hashmi
on 29th January, 2018 at Jinah Hall to know the latest development of
Bahawalpur, role of its institution’s in economic development of the
region, role of Islamia University in surrounding areas, sanitation
matters, and to explore hidden realities and potential of Bahawalpur.
In
interview, The Mayor courteously explained his infrastructural,
developmental, medical and other achievements that are being nearly to
be completed and some are successfully completed. In his interview, he
thanked to I.U.B. interviewers including Senior scholar and active
journal trainer Sir. Dr. Rana Shahzad and his media team including
couple of students.
First
of all, he happily praised the beauty of Bahawalpur City, its culture,
way of trade, way of courtesy, role of its development for the whole
country, productive yield for Pakistan, and other cooperative benefits.
He added that Bahawalpur is famous for its peace as more than half
million tourists tour to its Cholistan desert in Annual Jeep Rally,
where, everything is peaceful and protective, no any calamity occured
such as violence, terror, exchanging abuses, quarrel or even a single
slap.
While talking
on his achievements, he said that their leadership has given 5 million
rupees to 21 union councils within a single year, that is a record. He
praised Shahbaz Sharif on his waste management project that is full of
professional staff, modern equipments, standard sanitation plans and
modern way of services that is a role model, further, he added that
Speedo-Bus service project has enabled the transportation system very
comfortable and easy for daily passengers, water filtration plants have a
highly useful impact on the natives, installation of traffic signals
have changed the way of traffic in a positive direction.
He
emphasized that their municipal team has done a lot within short given
time, moreover, he hoped that Punjab government must take revolutionary
steps to improve tourism sector in Bahawalpur city so that it is
promoted and may get its past and lost identity. While giving the
answers of the questions, he assured that he will convey the message to
Najam Sethi to launch PCB Cricket academy for the youth of Bahawalpur.
He hoped that in future, 3rd lane of circular road of Bahawalpur will be
built soon, two medical dispensaries are planned to form for the
citizens of Quaid-e-Azam colony and Tibba Badar Sher, more water
filtration plants, two food streets within two months.
He
thanked to Honorable senior journal Prof. Dr. Rana Shahzad, Vice
Chancellor of I.U.B. and media studies department’s learners to record
his productive and visionary thoughts.
