Bahawalpur(By Iqra Aziz)A three week anti dengue
campaign has been launched on the directive of Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice
Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in all campuses of the IUB
with the collaboration of district administration in the light of Chief
Minister Punjab’s anti dengue programme. The campaign will last from 15th
to 28th October 2015 apart from main campus in Bahawalpur, the
Directors of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan Campuses will organize similar
activities with the assistance of local administration. The first activity
comprised of dengue awareness walk and distribution of information material in
class rooms of education department. This was followed by Dengue awareness
campaign in faculty of Arts, prevention awareness through video clips and
distribution of printed material in class rooms. Afterwards Dengue Awareness
sessions held at Girls hostels with the extensive lecture by Dr. Shazia Anjum
Director Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies. Ms. Imrana Ajmal Dy. District
Collector represented the District Government. The fourth activity of the
series will comprise of a seminar on dengue prevention/awareness at Ghotvi Hall,
Abbasia Campus. Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Dean Faculty of Pharmacy and Management
Sciences will preside while Mr. Imran Sikandar Baloch will be the Chief Guest.
Dr. Munir Azhar Head Medical Unit III, BVH will deliver an extensive lecture.
EDO Health, Bahawalpur will attend the event. The last of the activities will
be another dengue awareness seminar under the aegis of the University College
of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, College of Veterinary and Animal Science
and Department of Life Sciences at Faculty of Science Auditorium. IUB medical
division has been specially directed to promote the campaign and similarly,
Estate Care Division has been advised to maintain cleanliness and eradication
of stored water in the buildings.
