LAHORE(PR)Wildlife Department and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has taken collective decision for starting a joint venture information desk at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and Benazir International Airport Islamabad for providing awareness to people with regarding wildlife. Signature on rapprochement of Wildlife and Parks department, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Civil Aviation will soon commence.
Director General Wildlife and Parks Khalid Ayaz Khan have headed a meeting in which steps are taken for providing awareness to the people regarding wildlife protection and removal of wildlife smuggling. Along with the officers of department other high officials of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) were present at the meeting. He said that in the first phase these counters will be installed at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and Benazir International Airport Islamabad moreover in the second phase information desk will be installed at Faisalabad Airport.
Khalid Ayaz Khan has said that these counters will work not only for protection of wildlife and providing awareness to the people but also assist in a positive manner for elimination of smuggling. He said that a representative of wildlife department equivalent to the post of Inspector will be available all the time at counter also a representative of World Wide Fund for nature (WWF) will be available there at the counter. He said that previously Civil Aviation has only allowed Wildlife Department to limit access to cargo but required motives are not achieved so that, installing counters at the airport has been initiated. He said that pamphlets, broachers will be available and other information will be provided regarding wildlife awareness in such counter. He told that from Wildlife Department focal person for Benazir International Airport Islamabad is Deputy Director Muhammad Anwar Maan for moreover for Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore focal person is Abdul Shakoor Manj.

Heavy rush of people in 318 Ramadan bazaars set up in the province due to availability of essential items at subsidized rates
LAHORE(By our Bureau Chief) There is a heavy rush of people in 318 Ramadan bazaars set up in the province due to availability of essential items at subsidized rates. Sale of flour, sugar, rice and other edible items has exceeded 12487000 kg. Due to availability of daily use items at cheaper and subsidized rates, the trend of people is increasing towards Ramadan bazaars. Lakhs of persons purchased flour, sugar, fruits, vegetables, pulses and daily use commodities in Ramadan bazaars, the other day. According to Ramadan Monitoring Report, 183470 flour bags of 10kg each were sold on subsidized rate of Rs. 290 in Ramadan bazaars while 17193 flour bags of 10kg each were sold for Rs. 310 per bag in open market and 220373 flour bags of 20 kg each were sold at subsidized rate of Rs. 620. As much as 832889 kg sugar was sold on subsidized rate of Rs. 55 per kg in Ramadan bazaars and 10785248 kg sugar has been sold during last 25 days. In Ramadan bazaars, the rate of eggs was Rs. 70 per dozen. Punjab government is providing chicken for 10 rupees per kilogram below the market rate in Ramadan bazaars and 118906 kilogram chicken was sold at subsidized rate of Rs.194. There has been a record sale of more than 12487000 kilogram of 16 edible items during last 25 days. 179225 people including 165000 men and 14225 women benefitted from 1985 Dastarkhwans set up in the province.
Hardworking and competent male and female students are the symbol of bright future of Pakistan:Khalil Tahir Sandhu
LAHORE(PR) Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs & Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that hardworking and competent male and female students are the symbol of bright future of Pakistan. He said that young generation should promote the culture of education and research. He said that without the use of latest technology it is hard to compete with international standards in the field of education and research. Punjab government has added 47 percent additional budget for the upcoming year in the education sector as compare to the previous budget. Collectively 256 billion Rupees has been allocated for school education moreover 46 billion and 80 crore allocated for higher education.
Khalil Tahir Sandhu expressed these views while attending a meeting with delegation of male female students of private University, here today. He said that Punjab government has taken revolutionary steps in the field of education. He said that due to the personal interest of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif basic facilities are provided in more than 52 thousand schools of Punjab, entry of additional 14 lakh students and worked for maintaining teachers’ attendance up to 92 percent and selection of 1 lakh and 35 thousand new teachers on the basis of merit. He said that Punjab government is taking various steps not only for traditional education but also taking interest in technical education. He said that due TEVTA approximately 4 lakh 5 thousand students has received technical training till date. He said that along with traditional education, learning technical has become basic need to meet international standards. He said that for this cause more than 20 lakh students will get technical and vocational training in Punjab under skilled strategy 2018. Moreover, 4 lakh laptops will be distributed on merit. He told that this year 100 percent increase has been made in Punjab endowment fund. Punjab government is providing scholarships to the competent male and female students in world’s best universities for Master, M. Phil and PHD courses. Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that in this year Punjab government has sent competent and hardworking students to foreign universities. He said that I am hopeful that young generation will contribute in the national development in a positive way while using education, research and technology as a tool.
