BAHAWALPUR(PR) Commissioner
Bahawalpur has directed to launch a crackdown against the manufactures &
Dealers involved in selling spurious and sub standard pesticides &
fertilizers in Bahawalpur division. He issued these directions while presiding
over a meeting of Divisional Task Force Committee held at his conference room.
The
meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Rana Muhammad Saleem
Afzal, Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan Jamil Ahmad Jamil, Additional
District Collector Bahawal Nagar Rana Amjad Ali, Director Agriculture Muhammad
Munir and others.

Comprehensive & effective measures should be under taken by adopting
holistic policy framework through the collective coordination and guidance of
Agri Experts, manufactures of pesticides and fertilizers to boost the agro
economy" Commissioner Noted.
Commissioner
directed strident measures should be under taken to root out the mal-practice
of manufacturing and selling spurious & sub standard fertilizers &
pesticides. He urged upon the officials of agriculture department to launch a
comprehensive derive for the guidance of peasants regarding modern techniques
which are vital to stream line the agri sector on modern scientific lines.
The
meeting was briefed that agriculture department collected a total sum of 731
samples of pesticides and 33 samples were found substandard while 30 FIR were
registered against the violators and pesticides to the tune of Rs. 7 lac were
destroyed during the last year.
The
meeting was further apprised of that during the current year 82 samples of
pesticides were collected and 2 FIRs were lodged and spurious pesticides
amounting to Rs. 82 thousands were confiscated. Similarly spurious fertilizers
amounting to Rs. 2.1 million have been destroyed, 519 samples were collected,
37 were found substandard and 32 FIR were lodged.

measures should be under taken to extent state of the arts facilities to the
deserving persons by mobilizing all available resources by the Social Welfare
department in district Bahawalpur. The meeting was attended by Additional
Deputy Commissioner General Aftab Pirzadam Deputy Directors Social Welfare
Khalid Bashir, Muhammad Ishtiqa, Muhammad Uzair and others.
He
issued these directions while presiding over a high level meeting to review the
performance of Social welfare department. Deputy Commissioner directed the
officials of social welfare department to provide transport facility to the
students of Dar-ul-Atfal Male. He also directed the concerned officials to ensure
both formal and Technical education for these students both at male and female
Dar-ul-Atfal.
During
the meeting a detail briefing was provide regarding the performance of various
departments of Social Welfare which include: Darul Aman; Sanatzar; Mother &
Children home (Darul Falah), Nigehban Centre, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto human
rights centre for women and Bait ul Mal and Dar-ul-Atfal male and female. The
meeting was further apprised of various undergoing projects of community
development and different facilities provided to the patients at various
hospitals.
Deputy
Commissioner urged upon the officials of social welfare department to mobilize
all available resources to complete the undergoing community development
projects to ensure a decent socio economic cover for the deserving persons.

worker Begum Akhtar Habib-ullah Bhutta presided over the meeting while Ms. Sadia
Haqqi and Prof. Dr. Asma Shoukat was the guest of honour.
The
seminar was addressed by Sadiq Noman Haqqi, Prof. Dr. Mrs. Asma Tariq, Prof.
Mrs. Samina Shahid, Prof, Mrs. Gul Jan Bukhari, Prof. Misbah Yaqoob, Miss Maria
Fiyaz and Sadia Abbasi. The speakers highlighted various issues which are vital
for the empowerment of women to accelerate the pace of socio economic
development of the country. Begum Akhtar Habib Bhutta said that our holy Islam
attaches permanent significance by granting equal rights to the women in all
spheres of human endeavors.
